Brainstorm

Idea 1:

The first idea is a sign for my sisters clothing shop company’s office space. The logo idea is to take the name of her shop and put it onto a sign that she can put outside or inside her office space. The design will likely need to be able to be hung or nailed to the wall somehow. I may need to find a way to make the object lighter if it is is going to be made of wood. My idea is to carve out the backside and leave the edges of the design.

Width will likely be 2 inches

Idea 2:

The second design is cool art piece that can be put inside the office for decoration. Our dog Nadie is very precious to our family an especially my sister, so she is an important part of the company logo. I thought it would be a cool idea to make a cut out of Nadie from the logo and make it into a decorative piece.

Idea 3:

The third idea is a logo I made for my group of friends. We like to call ourselves TNS which stands for “Team No Sleep”. The design will likely need a design in the back to be hung up.

Initial File Work

Illustrator file for Project Height: 18.25 inches , Width: 15 Inches

The material for the project will be 3/4th inch birchwood. For my design I choose to do the sign of my family dog Nadie, as I thought it would be the most memorable and interesting piece for my sisters office space. For the project I outlined the design in illustrator using the pen tool. It was a mostly simple process, besides getting the snout to be the right shape. The snout are would be a profile of about 1/8th of an inch. For the cheeks, inner ears, outer eyes would be pockets 1/4th of an inch. The inner eye pieces would be 3/8th of an inch. (I added the profile measurement to the pockets for the depth of the pockets, although I am unsure if that is correct.)

Final Assembly:

The wood turned out great on for the project. There was a bit of a grain on the eye pieces, but I did not mind, as I decided to paint them black anyways.

After Being Painted

I ended up using a mix of latex and acrylic paint to finish off the project. I had originally planned to do a wood stain and polish, but I ended up wanted some more color to the project, as I decided to do a paint instead. I am really happy with the results, as it looks almost identical to my sister’s company logo! I can’t wait to put it at her office.
